I am writing this letter to seek a six-month secondment at our company’s head office in London later this year.

As you are aware, an opportunity to work at our head office will not only provide me with an international experience and help me gain a global perspective, but also allow me to spend some time with my wife , who has been studying at the London School of Economics in London and her course is due to end in December.

Since a majority of my projects require me to work in tandem with the London team, shifting base will not harm any of my current assignments. In fact, by being in the same time zone as my British colleagues, it will be easier to manage and streamline my work. Any coordination with our local office can be effectively managed over e-mails.

I would be highly obliged if you could help me in this matter since you have been instrumental in arranging such opportunities for other employees previously. Please do let me know if you would like me to furnish any further information to help make this decision.
