Describe a place you visited where the air was polluted.

You should say:
Where the place is?
When you visited?
Why the air was not good?
And explain how you felt about the place.

Introduction:

As we all know, air pollution is a major issue in many parts of the world right now. Here, I’d like to share with you my experience traveling to a location where the air pollution levels were way above acceptable levels.

Where the place is?

The location I went to was a sizable city in India. It was Delhi, the Indian capital, a city renowned for its thronging streets and active markets. Sadly, it is also recognized for having a pollution issue. The city was regarded as one of the most polluted in the world due to the extremely poor air quality.
When you visited?

I went to this city in the 2021 summer. It was the hottest time of the year and the height of the summer season. The city’s air quality deteriorated further due to the heat and humidity as well as air pollution.
Why the air was not good?

The high levels of vehicle emissions were the primary cause of the city’s air pollution. The numerous cars and other vehicles on the roads added to the already poor air quality with their emissions. Additionally, the city had a sizable number of industrial facilities, which made the issue worse.
And explain how you felt about the place.

For me, it was a very unpleasant situation. I struggled to breathe because polluted air. Smog filled the air, and the smell of exhaust was overpowering. It was extremely uncomfortable to feel how the pollution was affecting my lungs. Since city dwellers had to deal with this pollution every day, I was also very worried about their health.

CONCLUSION

Overall, I did not have a pleasant time visiting this polluted location. The extent of the air pollution and how it affected the locals horrified me. In order for people to live in a healthy and secure environment, I hope that measures are taken to lessen the city’s air pollution issue.

FOLLOW UP

1.    Is there more pollution now than in the past?

Yes, without a doubt, as a result of rising industrial pollution and private vehicle use, pollution levels are rising rapidly every day. In some cities today, the air is unbreathable, and people are afflicted with pollution-related illnesses. Additionally, waste management is contaminating land and water, which is seriously harming people’s health.

2.    In what ways can the air pollution be reduced effectively?

Well, there are a broad range of methods which can help to mitigate this problem. Public education can be one way in which people must be informed about the effective ways to minimize pollution. Likewise, encouragement of public transportation use, regulation of industrial emissions, and the promotion of an active lifestyle that encourages short-distance walking and bicycling are all effective ways to reduce air pollution.

3.    Do you think the city is cleaner or dirtier than the countryside? Why?

More people living in cities means more pollution, and waste management is challenging in urban areas. The people who live in the countryside, however, enjoy a good quality of life because there are very few people there and plenty of greenery.

4.    What can factories and power plants do to reduce pollutants?

Adoption of eco-friendly machinery must be used in the first place. This will probably help in a big way to address this issue. In addition to it, they must use recycled products as their raw material instead of using virgin material. Even installation of proper air and water filtration plants can be useful to deal with this problem. Also, factories and power plants should use less fossil fuels and more clean energy to produce electricity.

5.    Do you think many companies have been forced to reduce pollutants?

Yes, there is no doubt that the government and authorities have located some areas that are particularly polluted and have established guidelines by enforcing strict laws that have limited pollution, but the problem is still escalating at a startling rate. The only way to solve this issue is to reduce consumption of fossil fuels. Various authorities are attempting to resolve this environmental issue in a workable way.

6.    Do you think the wind has any effect on pollution? How?

Yes, I agree that the wind aids in spreading the pollutants. These harmful particles gets carried away from one place to another, further spreading the pollution to nearby areas. For Example, in Delhi,  the wind has a significant impact on air pollution because it carries pollutants to  nearby areas as well.
